RECENT EVENTS

Saturday, August 26, 2007

DJ Jazzy Becky's lifelong friend, Stephanie Bishop, asked Last Call to work her wedding. Most of the wedding party consisted of WSU alumni....but they were unwilling to grace the reception with a group chorus of the Cougar Fight Song (I tried...I really tried).

Saturday, August 25, 2007

Last Call worked the ceremony and reception for an old school mate, Lance Benson, and his new bride Stacey. The outdoor ceremony was saved when the clouds parted just as the first guests arrived, and remained clear through the ceremony. Shortly after the ceremony ended...the clouds returned and the party headed inside for the remaining festivities.

Saturday, August 4, 2007

Another stellar job by Last Call Entertainment's founder as he worked a lovely ceremony and reception for a local couple at the Heritage Room on Water Street in Olympia.

Saturday, July 28, 2007

Thursday, June 14, 2007

Last Call Entertainment headed back to an old haunt, Pints & Quarts, to resume karaoke nights at the local staple. DJ's Double-D and Last Call tried to kick things off right as per our custom. There were only 3 songs sung...2.5 by Last Call and the other half by Shu-Daddy. Everyone had a good time regardless. Karaoke is obviously an acquired taste.

We'll be out each week until people participate...or the owners tire of paying us to try.

Friday, June 1, 2007

Christopher (sans the DJ nickname since he was in "Photographer Mode") broke out the camera bag to cover the IFL matchups for NorthWest Fight Scene magazine at the Everett Convention Center. The event set a new attendance record in Washington State as 6,977 fans packed the Everett Event Center to see the Seattle TigerSharks vs the L.A. Anacondas, and the Tokyo Sabres vs the Portland WolfPack.

Last Call Entertainment's friends, Benji Radach and Brad Blackburn, stopped their opponents in the 1st round of their respective International Fight League (IFL) bouts. Blackburn won big with a knockout over veteran Jay Hieron in just 40 seconds; Radach overcame being floored early to win by TKO over fellow Washington native, Bristol Marunde, in 1:28. The entire event is scheduled to air on FSN (Channel 31) the first week of July. Check local listings for showtimes and watch our friends in IFL action.

DJ DWI and Last Call were in fine form as the Last Call production team ran another solid show at Northwest Fight Challenge V. More than 1000 fight fans packed the Tumwater High School gymnasium. They were not disappointed as they were treated to a spectacular 13-bout event featuring submission grappling, kickboxing and mixed martial arts. Designed to showcase youth and adult amateur competitors, the night's participants ranged in age from 12 to 35. From tapouts to knockouts, and even some strange judging decisions, the event had everything a fan could ask for and more.

Tuesday, April 24, 2007

After a 9 month hiatus from updating the 'Past Events' page I decided to get going again to announce the birth of our son, Carter Edwin (8lbs. 1oz., 20.5 inches).

Saturday, August 26, 2006

Last Call provided top-notch audio for a beautiful outdoor ceremony and the following recetion, both held at the bride's parents' home in Tumwater. The ceremony was held in front of the pool, and the reception spanned the finely landscaped back yard.

Saturday, July 22, 2006

DJ DWI and Last Call teamed with a new video company, Roy's A/V LLC, to produce BattleDome (a professional MMA event) at the Yakima SunDome. Local favorite, Rich Guerin, fought in final bout at 185lbs., avenging a previous loss by submitting Cedric Marks in near the end of the 1st round.

Back home in Olympia, DJ Nikki-Nik ran another flawless wedding/reception combo at the Jacob Smith House.

Saturday, July 8, 2006

DJ DWI and Last Call worked another edition of the Ring Rage full contact event at the 7 Cedars Casino in Sequim, WA. The night was packed with great fights including a lightweight matchup between two of the best in the Pacific Northwest. The bout was a draw after the 3rd round, but to the delight of the capacity crowd the two warriors agreed to step in for a 4th and deciding round.

Saturday, July 1, 2006

DJ Nikki-Nik worked a wedding and reception at the Schmidt Mansion for the manager of one of our installed events. Congratulations to the Rodrigo and his beautiful bride, and best of luck on their growing family!

Monday, June 12, 2006

Last Call staff setup and ran music for an 8th grade Promotion dance at Rainier Middle School. Admittedly not our usual crowd, but the kids had a blast...and we regressed a bit to enjoy the night with them.

Friday/Saturday, May 19 & 20, 2006

The entire Last Call Entertainment staff once again played the Tacoma Dome for two nights of hard hitting MMA action. Friday saw an all-amateur fight card; while Saturday's professional card included 'Fast' Eddy Ellis (sponsored in part by LCE) take home the XFC Welterweight title!

Saturday, April 29, 2006

Last Call made a solo trip to San Diego to announce another Valor Fighting event. Held at a local nightclub, "4th and B", the atmosphere was electric and the fights did not let anyone down. Despite the ignorance of the California State Athletic Commission (and it's officials) the night was a huge success. Last Call was welcomed by the local fight fans, and represented the Pacific Northwest well as the after-party took to the street of San Diego.

Friday/Saturday, April 21 & 22, 2006

Last Call staff produced a full contact fighting event for KO Sports and USA MMA at the TRAC in Pasco, WA. Friday night featured a Toughman-style kickboxing tournament eventually won by 5'10" 170lbs J.J. Mix (Yakima MMA). En route to the title he defeated a 6'3" 240lbs local monster. Working from the legs up, Mix finished the larger man with repeated kicks to the torso and a Van Damme-like snap kick to the dome.

Saturday night featured the best in local amateur mixed martial arts competition.

Saturday, March 25, 2006

Last Call Entertainment produced a very special MMA event at the Wenatchee Convention Center. The event opened with 4 male bouts...and ended in an all-female fight fest including kickboxing. mixed martial arts and an inter-gender submission grappling match.

World class MMA fighter Tara LaRosa lost a close jiu jitsu match to Yakima MMA standout Kyle McCarron. The night's main event pitted Landon Showalter product, Cami Hostetler, against Elisha Helspur of Derek Cleveland's Lion's Den. The action was fierce as both gals came to thrown down. Midway through the final round Elisha pounded her opponent into submission to take home the title.

Saturday, March 11, 2006

KO Sports Promotions presented another edition of Ring Rage at the 7 Cedars Casino in Sequim. The standing-room-only event was sold out 20 minutes prior to the show began. The peninsula fans were more than thrilled at the night's action that included a brutal knockout, several slick submissions and those fiesty Budweiser Ring Girls.

Check out www.xfightingchampionships.com for more upcoming fight information.

Friday, Feb. 17, 2006

Full Contact Promotions and Bad Intentions Fight Gear asked that Last Call emcee the second edition of the Yakima Valley Thunder series. The promoters put together a fantastic show at the Yakima Valley Community College gymnasium for nearly 1500 fans.

**STAY TUNED!** Four more Valley Thunder shows are scheduled this year.

Friday, Feb. 3, 2006

Last Call and DJ DWI produced another cage fighting event for Valor Fighting. After our successful work with the Valor staff last summer in Medford, Oregon, they called on us again to run their show at the Cache Creek Casino outside Sacramento.

Our good friend, Dennis Hallman, won his bout in an astonishing 33 seconds, and Valor fighters Mavrick and Kengo Ura emerged victorious, while Tom Howard lost to a fired up rising star. UFC legend Kimo Leopoldo made an appearance and briefly addressed the crowd, while UFC veteran (and recent Valor competitor) Vernon 'TIger' White was on hand cornering one of his students.

Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 - Happy 31st birthday to Christopher 'Last Call' Cope!

Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006

Last Call emceed a KO Sports Promotions amateur event at the Yakima SunDome. After an exciting night of Tough Gloves action on Friday, we ran an MMA event the following night in front of about 1,300 people. The action was great and the fans were out of their seats with excitement.

Yakima MMA teacher (and professional fighter) Rich Guerin made a great showing taking his Bad Intentions Fight Team to 6-1 on the night. Look for them to solidify their stature as the best school in central Washington next month at Yakima Valley Thunder - an all amateur MMA event at the Yakima Valley Community College.

Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006

Last Call once again hosted a night of karaoke fun for the Public School Employees of Washington lobbying group. This is the second year they've called on us to entertain them before they begin their assault on "The Hill" during legislative session.

Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006

Last Call played DJ & MC for the Black Hills Distributing annual party. This is basically their Christmas party, but their industry is such that it works out better for them to wait until after the holiday season to celebrate. Incredible caricature artist, Tom Hofstedt, was on hand to capture the group's essence in his artistic style. We even coaxed the Black Hills owner, BJ, into posing for Tom to create a somewhat unflattering rendition of him at work.

"Every penny counts!"

Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005

Last Call played DJ & MC for the Pints & Quarts New Year's Eve party. There were tons of prizes, loads of spirits and tons of dancing. Everyone that showed up had an absolute blast to usher in the new year.

DJ Double D also ran his second consecutive New Year's Eve party at El Sarape. The regulars were out in force, and a few irregulars joined the festivities as they partied on well into the new year.

Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005 - MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005

Last Call announced a small MMA show at the Vault Nightclub in downtown Olympia. The night's action included two teenagers in a full contact cage fight. Not to worry...both kids are very well trained as both their fathers are professional fighters.

Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005 - HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Monday, Oct. 31, 2005 - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005

DJ Double D once again hosted the El Sarape Halloween party. Good ol' George walked away with the top costume prize for his portrayal of a haggard wench. George isn't the best looking man on the planet, but he didn't look too shabby as a black haired lady. CONGRATS, George!

Friday, Oct. 21, 2005

Comcast OnDemand™ began showing the "Tournament of Champions" boxing event Last Call Entertainment worked on Oct. 8.

From the OnDemand menu page choose Sports & Fitness; select Local Sports; then select Boxing.

Thursday, October 20, 2005

The Daily Olympian released it's 2005 version of "Best of South Sound" covering everything from best breakfast to best late night atmosphere. They also listed the South Sound's top karaoke shows...with Last Call Entertainment's karaoke gigs at El Sarape II and IV (West Olympia and Tumwater) both recognized in the top 3!

We'd like to thank all of our regulars...and a few of the irregulars, too...for their continued support in keeping Last Call Entertainment at the top of the proverbial mountain.

Friday & Saturday, Oct. 14 & 15, 2005: Tacoma Dome

Last Call Entertainment was commissioned to provide production services to include Last Call as producer and MC, DJ D-Wee as production manager and DJ Nikki-Nik actually being a DJ. Friday night (the Pacific Northwest Invitational) USA Mixed Martial Arts crowned new champions in the welterweight and middleweight divisions (Team Quest's Ed Nuno and American Top Team's Cory Devela, respectively). Saturday night (X-Fighting Championship) featured a full card of professional mixed martial arts capped by a main event that determined the XFC Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Monson.

Originally, Last Call Entertainment was simply going to provide personnel to assist the production...but as fate would have it there was a near disaster just 24 hours before the first event as the original sound and lighting company notified the promoter they would not be participating (YES - with just 24 hours notice!).

As per their reputation, Last Call Entertainment staff came through in a big way by providing plenty of sound to fill the Tacoma Dome and also coordinating the efforts of the other three companies hired to replace the one that cancelled. Despite the setback both events went off without any major hitches. The promoter and his sponsors were extremely pleased with the result, and not a soul in the audience suspected the event had been in jeopardy at all.

Ms. Camie Ricks (a regular at Last Call Entertainment karaoke shows) earned an ear-splitting chorus of applause for her scorching rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, eliciting as deep a response from the 1,800 fans Friday night as local recording artist Chrissy Alexander received from the 3,700 fans when she sang the next evening. Both gals are truly remarkable vocalists, but our girl Camie never ceases to impress the masses when given the opportunity. Best of luck to both ladies in their singing careers.

All in all it was a hugely successful weekend for us and you can expect to see us back in the Tacoma Dome next April for another weekend of mixed martial arts action.

From left to right: Brittany, Trevor, Tyler, DJ Nikki-Nik (Nicole Andres), Todd, Last Call (Christopher Cope), DJ D-Wee (Darren Ingle), Nicole Cope and Troy. Two days after this picture was taken Troy donated a kidney to his father. Our thoughts and prayers are with both Marvin and Troy Westergard as they recover from surgery.

Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005

Tournament of Champions, Renton Community Center - Last Call Entertainment volunteered a sound system and announcing services for a charity amateur boxing event sponsored by the Azteca Boxing Club. Local sports icon Tony Ventrela was on hand to do play-by-play and the event was filmed by a team from Comcast Cable. The entire event will soon be available through OnDemand™ (Local Sports). Last Call served as announcer and can be heard at the beginning and end of each bout announcing the winners.

After a long and busy summer filled with too many weddings and events to list correctly, the Last Call Entertainment staff was anxious to relax a bit as fall set in.

Saturday, July 16, 2005 - Valor: Medford Mayhem @ the Medford Armory

DJ Dwee and Last Call worked a HOT room for Medford Mayhem (no kidding, it was upwards of 9o degrees inside the Armory). In attendance were Valor Fighting Superstar's Tom Howard and Maverick, and once again the legendary Ken Shamrock. The Valor Ring Girls and Knockout dancers made it even hotter.

Miss Valor, Priscilla Tuft (also a Miss Fitness America title holder) did a brief promo that annoucned her intention to join the ranks of the female MMA fighters.

Our good friend Dennis "Superman" Hallman took nearly 15 seconds longer than I'd predicted to secure the victory in his bout against Nick Tyree, but came away with another 1st round submission at 2:27.

Indications from the event promoter and his production staff were that the Last Call Entertainment team would definitely be back for another of Valor's upcoming events.

Saturday, July 16, 2005 - Northwest Fighting Challenge @ Brian Johnson's Academy

The team of DJ Nikki-Nik, DJ Kyle and rookie MC Clint Czecezok made their respective 'fight' debuts in front of a packed house of nearly 1000 fans. The event was a such a huge success they actually had to turn some people away after reaching maximum capacity. Many stuck around to watch what they could through the windows. Promoter Brian Johson invited the Last Call Entertainment team back for his next event.

The event featured submission grappling, kickboxing, Muay Thai kickboxing and mixed martial arts/pankration bouts.

Saturday, July 9, 2005; Sport Fight 11: Rumble at the Rose Garden

About 3,000 fans filled the lower levels of the Rose Garden for another stellar event from Randy Couture and Matt Lindland's fast growing Sport Fight event. Last Call was on hand shooting from ringside for some of the best MMA action in the Pacific Northwest.

Hall of Fame MMA fighter and former pro wrestler, "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock was on hand for the event, as was former pro-wrestling superstar 'Playboy' Buddy Rose. Check out more Sport Fight 11 photos by Last Call at MMA-Fighter.com.

Rumble at the Rose Garden

Father's Day 2005 at Safeco Field

The Mariners put on a great show beating the New York Mets 11-4 as I spent the day with my in-laws and some extended family. In the photo to your right is my father-in-law, Joe, Jr.; his father Joe, Sr.; and cousin Jimmy. It was a bueatiful day and Qwest Field was visible over the outfield wall.

Tuesday, April 19, 2005

Nicole and I just returned from a few days in Las Vegas for UFC 52 where our friend from Oregon's Team Quest, Matt Lindland, defeated a Jiu Jitsu black belt (by submission no less) and solidified his bid as the No. 1 contender for the UFC's Middleweight Title. Unfortunately, our other friend from Team Quest, Randy Couture, was unable to retain his Light Heavyweight Championship, but he said that at the age 41 he's still not ready to retire quite yet.

On our honeymoon we saw the Rick Thomas magic show and I spent the whole time explaining to Nicole how all the tricks were done, or what to watch to catch the "slight of hand" parts. We decided to catch the Lance Burton magic show on this trip. My explanations were all the same at this one: "That's dude's obviously a magician, babe." I guess that explains why Thomas does shows at his shows 2 p.m. and 4 p.m....while Burton does his at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. for three times the ticket price.

I didn't lug the camera around as we spent a good deal of time simply relaxing (like a REAL vacation!), but took a couple of photos from our condo window and a couple more from the plane on the way home. The photos are: Nikki with former UFC Light Heavyweight Champ Randy Couture at his after party at the Mandalay Bay (over Randy's shoulder in the red is Team Quest member and Pride fighter, Dan Henderson); The Aladdin Hotel & Casino (from our condo); The Bellagio (we could watch the water show from our room); the Olympic Mountains and Olympia's West Bay area (as we flew to Sea-Tac).

Randy Couture and Nikki.

Wednesday, March 30, 2005

Last Call Entertainment's DJ D-Wee (Darren Ingle) and his wife,Teo, celebrated yesterday morning as McKenzie Rain Ingle entered the world at 1:30am weighing 6 pounds, 2 ounces and healthy as can be. Teo is still recovering from an exhaustung night, and Darren is as excited a father as I think I've ever seen (he even told me he cried watching an episode of Oprah yesterday afternoon). Nicole and I visited briefly last night because she wanted to get her mits on the newborn and I took Darren out to fire up a couple celebratory stogies.

Darren and Teo expect to be home sometime tomorrow with their new family addition.
